One Year Anniversary
Happy Anniversary week to my hubby, Ben!
May 21st will mark one full year of wedded bliss, and good news folks...he still loves me (hoooray!). Some say that the first year is the hardest, but I'm not sure that counts when you have been together as long as we have. Ben and I met when I was 17 years old (holy smokes...its been 15 years). We were fast friends and they always make the best soulmates ;)
Ben and I both grew up in the coastal town of Ipswich. It is home to the Crane Estate, which, if you are an east coast bride or bride to be, I'm sure you may have happened upon it in your venue search. Living close to the ocean we grew up with the beach as our mantra. We spent every sunny summer day on boats, heading to the beach....and even some not so sunny days. It was only natural that it be part of our wedding day. With that in mind, we chose Singing Beach Club for our wedding venue. It was the perfect blend of east coast beach vibe mixed with a classic club atmosphere. My husband is a very classy guy...if I do say so myself :) so it was important to me that our venue speaks to both our personalities.
When it came to our decor, we wanted a mix of classic romance, but didn't want to forget the feeling of sandy toes that really defined where we come from. We chose bright romantic flowers with olive branches, and had a touch of ocean elements. We kept our guest list intimate and enjoyed adding special details for our loved ones. We chose oyster shells as our guests' escort cards and it was so fun to work with shell and ink together. I love how gorgeous shells are on their own, so adding ink...holy smokes! The food was delicious! The music was rockin'! And LOVED the company :) And yes...I am TOTALLY biased.
Being a bride and planning a wedding is something in itself. No one can every really prepare you for the bridal marathon. Sure, people tell you all the things to expect, but regardless of everyone's insight, it is quite another thing to experience. My advice to any bride would be "don't sweat the small stuff", but that may seem an impossibility in the moment...after all, you are juggling SO MUCH. Brides to be...I totally understand...just keep calm and plan on ;) I hope you enjoy mine and Ben's creation. It was truly something! I loved the whole wedding journey with my soulmate and partner in crime. I don't know how i got so lucky...he really is a keeper ;)
